Motley London

A revolutionary jewellery brand redefining the art of adornment. More than just a brand, Motley was a vibrant fusion of extraordinary jewellery designers, sculptors, and artists.

As the Senior Graphic Designer, I developed a distinct visual identity and handled UI/UX design for Motley London.

I collaborated with various stakeholders and cross-functional teams to bring coherence and flair across different channels during its vibrant existence.

Visual identity

The Motley London logo, a collaboration with the creative minds at Visual Things, perfectly captures the brand’s essence. With its sleek, angular typography, the logo mirrors the precision and artistry of Motley’s jewellery.

The visual identity of Motley London was a journey of discovery and creativity. Working closely with Cecily Motley, co-founder and art director, we explored various themes to reflect the brand’s artistic essence.

The paint marks, a key feature of Motley London's brand, were hand-painted with black ink, then edited in Photoshop and applied across various channels to reflect the brand's artistic essence.

Motley London - Henrique Almeida
The website

The old website lacked cohesive visual elements and a user-friendly interface. The design was cluttered and did not effectively showcase the unique jewellery pieces or the brand’s artistic essence.

This was a multidisciplinary project spanning several months, involving extensive communication and collaboration with product, marketing, and external stakeholders.

1. Research and Planning

We've conducted a detailed user research to identify pain points.
Aligned vision and goals with stakeholders and different teams.

2. Design and Development

Together with the product team, we implemented a clean, modern design.
Enhanced navigation and user experience with intuitive layouts and interactive features.

3. Implementation

We've developed responsive designs for desktop and mobile platforms.
Launched the new website, ensuring consistent branding across all pages.

Social ads and organic

Vibrant social ads and engaging organic content were developed to showcase Motley’s unique jewellery. The content captures the brand’s artistic essence, appealing to a wide audience across various social media platforms.

Internal discussions during Monday morning meetings with product, marketing, and design teams helped align strategies.

These collaborative efforts resulted in vibrant ads and engaging content that effectively showcased Motley’s unique jewellery and artistic essence across social media platforms - paid ads and organic social.

Printing catalogues

The Motley printing catalogue process included photoshoots, internal discussions, and meticulous paper proofing to ensure all details were perfect.

The final result is a sleek, engaging catalogue with various pages showcasing the jewellery and their designers.

Packaging

The packaging for Motley was designed in collaboration with the external agency Visual Things.

Each element, from the materials to the colour scheme, was meticulously crafted to enhance the customer’s first interaction with the product.

Believing that a product’s essence starts with its opening, the unboxing experience was made crucial.

The packaging is visually appealing and functional, enhancing the customer’s first impression and reinforcing Motley’s artistic and luxurious feel.

Store

We’ve designed a store in the heart of Soho, Carnaby Street, in central London. This space is filled with unique design references and features, creating an inviting and vibrant atmosphere that reflects the essence of Motley.

Collaborating with various designers, we ensured every detail was meticulously crafted, from the bold exterior to the artistic interior displays.
